What are the qualifications of the Instructors?

All Funky Fish Instructors are CPR certified and professionally trained. The instructors come from a variety of backgrounds that include marine science students, school teachers, kid/ocean loving humans.  Please reach out to us for more information.

What is the instructor to child ratio?

The maximum ratio is 1 instructor for every 7 children. For example, if 8 sign up for a Funky Fish day there will be 2 instructors assigned.

Swimming ability?

If your child is learning to swim they can still join Funky Fish. We teach snorkeling on the pool steps in the shallow part of the pool and ocean. The children can always stand up. If the ocean is too choppy to snorkel we will try boogie boarding. However if the ocean is too rough, we will go on a beach nature hike, jump waves and play beach games in place of going in the ocean. The Instructors are with the children at all times

What attention is given to children with medical conditions?

A waiver is complete upon sign up,  Parents are able to communicate any special conditions for a child on the waiver form.

Weather? 

There are 3 different types of rain.

Light Sun Showers – we carry on. Thunder / Lightening, we will return to our covered base for and wait for it to pass. If it continues we will call for you to come and pick up your child. Thirdly, if it is torrential rain in the morning, we will inform you that the day has been rain checked and you will receive a make up day to use before Dec 15th, 2023.

Lunch?

Lunch is included. Please do not email us with your child lunch preference as we will will ask your child at the beginning of each day.

Hilton: Sandwich choice – Grilled cheese / PB & J / Ham & cheese / Turkey & cheese. Sides: Goghurt, string cheese or chips.

Will my kids siblings and friends be together?

As our groups are so small we try to keep all the children together so as to not separate siblings or friends.

Refunds and Make up days?

All sign ups are non-refundable. Please note that we are unable to switch dates. It is our company policy to not offer make up days or weeks.

Late fee?

A late fee of $5 per child will be charged at 3.05pm and again at 3.15pm and 3.30pm.
